POSITION WISE ANALYSIS OF SPORTS ACHIEVEMENT MOTIVATION AMONG FOOTBALL PLAYERS

The study's goal was to look into football players' motivation for sports performance, with a focus on playing positions. Christ University, Bangalore women football players were chosen. A total of eight teams competed in this competition. In each of those Eight teams, 60 players from Elimination round (25 forwards, 25 midfielders, and 10 defenders) and 60 Semifinal Qualifying round players (25 forwards, 25 midfielders, and 10 defenders) were chosen at random as subjects. The motivation for athletic achievement was measured using a weighing machine. Descriptive statistics and factorial ANOVA are two statistical techniques used. Experienced players showed lesser sports achievement motivations when compared to novice players.

INTRODUCTION

The most popular sport in the planet is football. Every year, more than 200 million people play more than 20 million football games around the world. The nature of the game is one of the reasons behind soccer's universal appeal. A successful combination of all the fundamental skills is required to win a match. Against challenging opponents, higher-level skill development and smart play are a winning combination. In the game of football, a player's performance is the total of all of his or her gained talents.The players' ability is determined by their ability to group all of their gained fundamental talents and employ them as the scenario necessitates. Despite the fact that modern football has altered the essence of the sport, the basis is built on fundamental skills and psychological value.

METHODOLOGY

The study's goal was to look into football players' motivation for sports performance, with a focus on playing positions. Christ University,Bangalorewomen's football players were chosen. There is a significant consequence on player level. At F(1,114) = 10.17, p.05., qualifying round players (M=28.40) stimulatedconsiderablycomplexsportingexecutionimpulse than elimination round players (M=26.41). There was also a main sway on player position. At F(2,114)=6.99, p.05., midfielders were found to have significantly higher sports achievement motivation (M=27.76), followed by forwards (M=27.60) and defenders (M=24.75). There was also a significant interfaceamongst level and position, with F(2,114) = 8.56, p.05. Figure I depicts the mean values of sports accomplishment motivation by player level and playing position.

The above table displays that F-ratio values acquired for place within elimination round players, position within Qualifying round players, players within forwards and players within centerwere11.24, 6.09, 22.98 and 4.38, which were greater than the table value of 3.92 with df 1 and 114 essential for significance at 0.05 level of confidence. The obtained F-ratio value for level of players within mid fielders was 1.34, which was lesser than the table value of 3.07 with df 2 and 114 required for significance at 0.05 level of confidence.

CONCLUSIONS

  1. There was a significant difference among elimination round players and qualifying round players as well as among three playing positions such as forwards, mid fielders and defenders on sports achievement motivation of football players.
  2. Elimination round players showed lesser sports achievement motivations when compared to Qualifying round players.
