STATUS OF FOOTBALL INFRASTRUCTURE FACILITY AND STUDENTS’ PARTICIPATION OF HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTES OF TRIPURA

The purpose of the study was to “Status of football infrastructure facility and students’ participation of Higher Education Institutes of Tripura.” The study was conducted on total sample size was three hundred (N=300). 250 students and 50 administrative officers were selected for the study belong 25 different colleges of higher education institutes of Tripura. In this study self-administration questionnaires were used.Percentage and Chi-Square methods were employed to analysis the data. From the finding, it revealed thatall most, all the institutes were participated ininter college and inter-university competitions of higher education institutes of Tripura. Adequate facilities were available in higher education institutes of Tripura. But those facilities did not utilize by the students due to lack of sports instructor, coach and institutes were not allow to use the facilities after the college time.

Introduction

In the course of the most recent decades, sports events have been picking up an extraordinary momentum in India. In spite of cricket being the soul of sports, extra sports like football, hockey, volleyball, basketball, badminton, Kabaddi, kho-kho, table tennis etc. are also well known among the youth today. Tragically in spite of having some great players India is still short of making a spot in Olympics. One of the significant reasons is the poor boost of sports at the school and college levels. The absence of infrastructure and amenities is a major detrimental factor in the growth of sports culture in the colleges.(Londhe, 2013)

Tripura is a small and picturesque state of North East India. The Tripura Government has laid an emphasis on upliftinggames and sports in the state.(http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/politics-and-nation/rohingya-crisis-security-tightened-along-india-myanmar-border/articleshow/60526163.cms, 2018)With the state government of Tripura embracing the "Sports for all" strategy their focus is on planned development of sports infrastructure for better performance. But one of the most important reasons for poor performance can also be attributed to poor sports infrastructure facility at the school and college levels in Tripura. The lack of infrastructure and facilities is a major negative factor in the improvement of sports culture in colleges. The purpose of the study was to status of football Infrastructure facility and students’ participation of Higher Education Institutes of Tripura.

Objectives

  1. The objective of the study was to find out the Football infrastructural and facilities status of Higher Education Institute of Tripura.
  2. The objective of the study was to find out the utilization of football facilities provisional of providing than to students.

Methodology

Subjects

Total sample size was 300. 250 students and 50 administrative officers were selected for the study belong 25 different colleges of higher education institutes of Tripura. Ten sports participation students studying from each college

and two administrative officers (One Physical Education Teacher and One Principal) from each college.

Selection of Questionnaire

Data was collected through questionnaire and observation. The nature of data was quantitative form. The questionnaire was administered by the researcher. Researcher was administered two types of questionnaires one questionnaire for students and second one for administrative officers. The name of the questionnaire was “Sports infrastructure and facilities status of higher education institutes of Tripura”. These questionnaires were full fill the objective of the study. These questionnaires arranged the questions/statements in order and specified clearly so that the students and administrative officers can answer those without any unjustified problem. The standard procedure will be adopted to construct the questionnaires.

Statistical Technique for Analysis Data

For the purpose of the study to check the football infrastructure, facilities, performance and utilization of facilities by students of Higher Education Institute of Tripura, percentage method and chi - square were applied.

Results

Students and administrative officers results pertaining to Questionnaire are subjected to analysis of Percentage and Chi – Square analysis have been presented below: -

Findings

Students Findings

  1. Data from 250 players from the respective colleges in Tripura provide evidence that all colleges participate in inter collegeand interuniversity competitions. Researcher draw the conclusion that 25 colleges compete in inter collegeand interuniversity competitions based on the data.
  2. According to feedback from 250 playersat the various colleges in Tripura, 56% of the institutions have access to standardized football-related equipment, whereas only 44% of them do. Additionally, 85.71% of the students reported using the equipment to its fullest potential, while 14.28% reported not using it at all. Researcher draw the conclusion that 11 institutions do not have standardized equipment linked to football, while 14 institutions do so. This is based on the data.
  3. Based on the collected data, it was discovered that infrastructure linked to football fields is available in 72% of colleges, whereas it is not in 28% of institutions. On the basis of the data, Researcher draw the conclusion that
  1. 18 institutions have infrastructure linked to a football field available, whereas 7 institutions do not.

Administrative Officers Findings

  1. Data from 50 administrative officers of the relevant colleges in Tripura provide evidence that 100% of the colleges take part in inter collegeand inter university competitions. Researcher draw the conclusion that 25 colleges compete in inter college and inter university events based on the data.
  2. According to the feedback provided by the 50 administrative officers of the respective colleges in Tripura, 56% of the institutions have access to standardized football equipment, while only 44% of them do not. Additionally, 85.71% of students were found to be using the equipment to its fullest potential, while 14.28% did not use it at all. We will draw the conclusion that 11 institutions lack standardized equipment for football, whereas 14 institutions have it. Based on the data, Researcher draw this conclusion.
  3. Based on the collected data, it was discovered that infrastructure linked to football fields is available in 72% of institutions, whereas it is not in 28% of institutions. Researcher conclude from the data that 18 institutions have access to football field infrastructure, while 7 institutions do not, based on the availability of that infrastructure.

Conclusion

On the basis of the discussion above following conclusions may be drawn;

  1. Most of the institutes were participated in inter college and inter-university competitions in Tripura.
  2. Some students and administrative officers were responded that they had all kind of football equipment facilities but they did not unitize the facilities in the institutes.
  3. Most of the respondent were responded that they had football ground in the institutes.
