In a similar vein, teachers' ability to effectively teach subjects is crucial to students' academic success. This study evaluated the pedagogical and subject-matter proficiency of teachers in upper basic education in southeast Nigeria for the purpose of effectively delivering the pre-vocational studies curriculum. Two research questions and two related hypotheses were developed in order to accomplish the study's goal. The descriptive survey design was used in the investigation. In 1,305 upper basic schools across the five states of southeast Nigeria, there were 2,610 management staff members and 1,865 pre-vocational teachers who comprised the study's population. The stratified and simple random sampling method was used to select 232 managements and 332 prevocational subject teachers as the study's sample size. A reliability index of 0.91 was determined. Frequency counts and mean scores for the study questions were utilized to descriptively examine the data, and the t-test and ANOVA were employed to assess the hypotheses. According to a one-way ANOVA, the mean effects of teachers' subject matter expertise on the implementation of the pre-vocational studies curriculum in upper basic education across the five states of southeast Nigeria were statistically negligible. An action plan should be implemented by the government and management to increase teachers' proficiency in using contemporary pedagogy for the successful implementation of pre-vocational curricula. To support teachers' professional development and efficacy in teaching pre-vocational studies, it is important to encourage ongoing supervision of instruction.
Rachael Onwadi, Susan Obasi Copyright (c) 2025 Rachael Onwadi, Susan Obasi https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 https://ijems.net/index.php/ijem/article/view/506 Sat, 07 Jun 2025 00:00:00 +0530 The Common Acute Injuries & Their Management Among Inter-University Female Volleyball Players Throughout Bangladesh https://ijems.net/index.php/ijem/article/view/505
This study looks at the injury rate, causes, and coping mechanisms of female intercollegiate volleyball players. The subjects were thirty female gamers. Among athletes from several institutions, a cross-sectional survey was carried out to gather information on injury kinds, frequency, causes, and treatment. According to the results, the most frequent acute injuries include ankle sprains, finger dislocations or fractures, shoulder injuries, hand injuries, and knee ligament injuries. Strength training, flexibility exercises, appropriate footwear, and proper landing technique are all factors that increase the risk of injury. The results show that because of inadequate training, inadequate medical care, and poor skill levels, athletes cannot afford the right kind of training to perform at a high level.
Muhammad Sakib Sad Siddiqui, Milton Bowm Copyright (c) 2025 Muhammad Sakib Sad Siddiqui, Milton Bowm https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 https://ijems.net/index.php/ijem/article/view/505 Fri, 13 Jun 2025 00:00:00 +0530 Difference in Temporal Parameters of Obese & Non-Obese female in walking https://ijems.net/index.php/ijem/article/view/432
Obesity is one of the leading health complications in the world, one of the most serious public health challenges of the 21st century it effect on every system of human body, locomotory system. The present study is a quantitative study, which was designed to investigate the variations of selected gait parameters between obese & non-obese females aged between 12-14 years. This research explored the effectiveness of motivational videos as a strategy to reduce anxiety and foster psychological resilience in athletes recovering from minor injuries. The primary aim was to assess whether such videos could aid in psychological rehabilitation and support a smoother transition back into competition. A total of 46 athletes with minor injuries participated in a controlled experimental study. They were randomly divided into two groups: one received mindfulness-based motivational video training, while the other served as a control. Standardized psychological assessments were administered to evaluate anxiety, resilience, and mindfulness levels before and after the intervention. Findings revealed that the group exposed to motivational videos experienced a significant decline in anxiety and a notable improvement in resilience compared to the control group. While mindfulness scores between the two groups showed no marked differences, there were strong positive correlations between mindfulness, anxiety, and resilience. This suggests that mindfulness may play a role in managing emotional responses and strengthening psychological resilience. Although the study centred on anxiety, resilience, and mindfulness, the use of motivational interventions could have wider psychosocial benefits.
Sonia Kapur, Nupur Wadhwa Copyright (c) 2025 Sonia Kapur, Nupur Wadhwa https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 https://ijems.net/index.php/ijem/article/view/489 Sun, 20 Jul 2025 00:00:00 +0530 A Comparative Study Of Body Image And Body Shape Among College Female Students. https://ijems.net/index.php/ijem/article/view/520
This study aims to examine the differences in body image and body shape perceptions between female college students engaged in sports and those not involved in sports activities in Hisar District, Haryana. Understanding these differences can provide insights into the impact of sports participation on body perception among young women. A descriptive survey design was employed, involving 100 randomly selected female college students aged 18–25 years. The sample was equally divided into two groups: 50 sports participants and 50 non-sports participants. Data collection instruments included the Body-Image Questionnaire developed by Bruchon-Schweitzer (1987) and the Body Shape Questionnaire by Cooper et al. (1986). Statistical analyses, including mean, standard deviation, and independent t-tests, were conducted to identify significant differences between the groups. The findings revealed significant differences between sports and non-sports female students in both body image and body shape perceptions. Sports participants reported more positive body image scores (M = 50.88, SD = 17.59) compared to non-sports participants (M = 71.80, SD = 11.67), with a t-value of 6.86 (p < 0.05). Similarly, significant differences were observed in body shape perceptions, with sports participants scoring lower (M = 47.64, SD = 16.70) than non-sports participants (M = 60.50, SD = 22.01), yielding a t-value of 3.29 (p < 0.05).The study concludes that participation in sports is associated with more positive body image and body shape perceptions among female college students. These findings underscore the importance of promoting sports and physical activities to enhance body satisfaction and overall well-being in young women.
Ritu, Usha Rani Copyright (c) 2025 Ritu, Usha Rani https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 https://ijems.net/index.php/ijem/article/view/520 Fri, 25 Jul 2025 00:00:00 +0530 Effect Of Plyometric-Weight Training And Specific Skill Training On Agility Of Beginner Fencers https://ijems.net/index.php/ijem/article/view/519
This study aimed to evaluate the effect of an 8-week plyometric-weight training combined with fencing-specific skill training on the agility of beginner fencers aged 10–19 years in Karnal District, Haryana. A total of 60 beginner fencers were purposively selected and randomly assigned into two equal groups: an experimental group (n=30), which received the integrated training intervention, and a control group (n=30), which continued with their standard training routine. The intervention was conducted three times per week over eight weeks and included periodized plyometric and light-resistance exercises along with fencing-specific footwork and reaction drills. Agility was assessed using the Shuttle Run Test from the AAHPER Youth Fitness Test (1976), both before and after the intervention. Descriptive statistics showed a marked improvement in post-test scores for the experimental group (M=10.21, SD=0.32) compared to the control group (M=11.25, SD=0.33). Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA) was used to control for pre-test scores, and the results revealed a statistically significant difference between the groups (F=225.61, p<0.001). Post hoc analysis confirmed a significant mean difference of -1.04 seconds (p<0.001), favouring the experimental group. The findings support that combined plyometric-weight and sport-specific skill training significantly improves agility in beginner fencers. This study highlights the importance of structured, age-appropriate training programs in developing foundational physical qualities for fencing. The research provides practical insights for coaches and sports educators working at the grassroots level, emphasizing the need for integrating physical conditioning with technical skill development for optimal performance enhancement.
Ankit, Usha Rani Copyright (c) 2025 Ankit, Usha Rani https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 https://ijems.net/index.php/ijem/article/view/519 Fri, 25 Jul 2025 00:00:00 +0530 Khel Ratna Awardee & Olympian Shri Harmanpreet Singh: Redefining Excellence In Indian Hockey https://ijems.net/index.php/ijem/article/view/518
Harmanpreet Singh, a celebrated Khel Ratna Awardee and Olympian, has significantly shaped the modern era of Indian hockey.
