EFFECTS OF A SPECIFIC TRAINING PROGRAMME ON PHYSICAL FITNESS AND BADMINTON PLAYING ABILITY OF SELECTED TRIBAL OF HILLY AREAS OF DARJEELING DISTRICT
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to find out the effects of Specific Training on Physical Fitness and Badminton Playing Ability of selected tribal group of hilly areas of Darjeeling District. To achieve this Forty Tamang tribal school boys of 8th and 9th grade were selected as subjects and their age ranged between 13 and 15 years. Thereafter the subjects were subdivided randomly into two equal groups (N=20) namely experimental and control group. The specific training programme of ten weeks (three days per week i.e, Monday, Wednesday and Friday) was administered to the experimental group. Physical Fitness and Badminton Playing Ability was taken as criterion measures for this investigation. To measure Physical Fitness AAHPER Youth Fitness test and three judges rating process were used to measure Badminton playing ability. The data collected prior and after the experimental treatment was analyzed using analysis of covariance (ANCOVA). The result revealed that experimental group of Tamang tribal school boys’ showed significant improvement in Physical Fitness and Badminton Playing Ability.
