EFFECT OF PLYOMETRIC EXERCISES ON THE SELECTED MOTOR ABILITIES OF FEMALE PLAYERS
Abstract
The purpose of the study was to find out the effect of plyometric exercises on the selected motor abilities of female basketball players. To achieve the purpose of the study forty female students studying in G.B.Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar U.S.Nagar, Uttarakhand, for the year 2003-04, were selected as subject at random. The selected subjects were divided into two equal groups of 20 subjects each such as experimental group and control group. The experimental group was given a systematic and progressive program of plyometric training for three days for ten weeks. Control group did not participate in any special training program and followed the daily routine. The subject’s age ranged from 18 to 25 years. The variables for study were- speed, agility, and endurance. Analysis of covariance (Ancova) was used to find out the significant differences if any between the experimental group and control group. The level of significance was set at 0.05 level. The result showed significant differences in speed and agility and insignificant differences in endurance.
